Mt. Kagamiyama (鏡山, Kagamiyama) is a mountain with an elevation of 284 meters, known for its beautifully shaped trapezoidal form, becoming a symbol of Karatsu City.
Description[]
In real life[]
At the summit, there are attractions such as Kagamiyama Shrine, an observation deck, and a rest area, offering views of Karatsu's cityscape, the scenic “Niji-no Matsubara” pine grove, Karatsu Bay, and on clear days, even the silhouette of Iki Island. Along with the breathtaking views, Kagamiyama is also famous as a spot for cherry blossoms and azaleas. In spring, cherry blossoms along the road burst into bloom, creating a “tunnel of cherry blossoms.” The combination of cherry blossoms and the scenic views is truly spectacular.
Moreover, Kagamiyama is adorned with numerous legends, including as the setting for tragic love stories, and is even mentioned in the “Manyoshu,” a collection of Japanese poetry from the 8th century. Visiting with knowledge of these legends and history can add an extra layer of romance.[1]
In the Anime[]
Mount Kagamiyama was the place where Saki Nikaido, along with the rest of her gang, agreed to play the Chicken game to beat the rival gang. As expected, this did not go as expected and Saki was seriously injured in an explosion, dying shortly after.
Years later, in 2018, Maria Amabuki, Reiko's daughter, tries to play the same game with the Korosuke gang. Fortunately, Saki manages to intervene and save Maria.
Later, in Episode 11, Kotaro Tatsumi tries to make Sakura come to her senses and return to Franchouchou after regaining her memories, but forgetting those from when she was a zombie.
