Kashima City (鹿島市, Kashima-shi) is a city located in the southern part of Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan.

In real life[]
In 1889, the modern municipal system was established. The current region of the city consists of six villages (Minami-Kashima, Kita-Kashima, Hachihongi, Fureda, Nogomi, and Nanaura; all from the Fujitsu district). Later in 1955, part of the village of Nanaura was incorporated into the city of Kashima, while the remaining part was incorporated into the city of Tara.

The Kashima Gatalympics are held every May in Hama-chō, a part of the city of Kashima. This event consists of practicing a variety of sports in the marshes of the Ariake Sea. This event also takes place in episode 5 of the first season, with Tae being the winner of the event.
