The Curse of SAGA (佐賀の呪い, Saga no noroi)
Saga curse
It is the primary antagonistic force that has plagued Saga Prefecture since ancient times and continues to do so today. The curse ensures that anyone who could bring prosperity to Saga will be brought down before they can do so, effectively condemning Saga to a path of ruin and destruction. The Saga curse is inspired by historical accounts of Xu Fu, an ancient Chinese alchemist who supposedly visited Saga in his quest for the Elixir of Immortality. The curse also appears to be directly related to Jofuku, as he is visibly shown suffering as a direct consequence of its power.

The Prosperity of SAGA (佐賀の繁栄, Saga no han'ei)
Saga Prosperity
It is the supernatural force that opposes Saga's curse. Prosperity manifests in objects with purifying properties. Like its counterpart, Saga's curse, Prosperity is believed to have arisen in response to Saga's quest for immortality. Saga's Prosperity is the opposite of Saga's Curse. While Saga's curse seeks to destroy Saga and, consequently, Jofuku, Prosperity appears to be the force that keeps Saga and Jofuku alive. Both forces are two sides of the same coin and operate throughout the human world.
